NOVEMBER PTO NEWS AND EVENTS

A HUGE thanks to all Heartland families who turned in Box Tops recently. Together, we raised $350!Congratulations to Ms. Castilla’s class who turned in the most Box Tops and has won an extra recess! The winners of the raffle prizes are Seyi Oshodi, Isabel Ely, Grant Asta, and Sofia Comunale.

Our next Box Top collection will begin late January. In the meantime, please continue clipping those Box Tops!

Meet us in the library, after school from 3:45 - 4:30 on Monday, Nov 5th to make cards for our Veterans. These cards will be included in the candy we are donating to the troops! All supplies will be provided by the PTO.
If you are unable to attend the event, your child can also drop off their card in the office.

Donation Drive to Wayside Waifs Extended Until Tuesday, November 6th

For as many animal lovers that we have at Heartland, we don't have the donations to show for it. As a result, we have extended the donation drive a few more days. RED BAG PROJECT: Pick up "Mittens" starting on November 6th

The Heartland community has the opportunity to help underprivileged children of the Kansas City area by participating in the "Red Bag" project this upcoming holiday season.  With your help, 20 children that we are sponsoring will receive holiday gifts and much needed items.   Please stop by the "Red Bag" table at the entrance to the Book Fair Family Night (Tuesday, Nov. 6th) anytime between 4:30 and 7:30 to pick up a red mitten(s) with a gift that you can purchase for a child.  You can also pick out a mitten(s) at the Thanksgiving lunches on Thursday and Friday (Nov. 15th & 16th).  Please make sure to sign your name and contact info on the "Red Bag" check out sheet after picking a mitten(s).   You may drop off your purchased gifts (unwrapped and with red mitten taped to the item) to the Heartland front office anytime between Wednesday, Nov. 7th and Friday, Nov. 30th.  Please contact Beth Orsund (orsund@gmail.com), Katie Scheibel (Katie_scheibel@hotmail.com). or Laura Boswell (lboswell5@gmail.com) if you have any questions.  Thanks for your support and generosity - your contributions are greatly appreciated!

We are still needing plenty of volunteers to help with the school's annual Thanksgiving lunches on Thursday, November 15th and Friday, November 16th. Please consider signing up to help before or after you have attended lunch with your child.

Starting this year, our Heartland Directory can only be accessed online. As a benefit to PTO membership, only members will be granted access. This tool only becomes useful if everyone ensures their contact information is correct every year. Parents must update this information yearly with teacher names in order to stay up to date. Step by step instructions to make sure everything is correct can be found by clicking here.

Do you have a student that is working toward the district or President's Volunteer service awards? With a family account on our website, parents can now enter and track how many volunteer hours their students have.
